Annalee was the first of her friends to have a baby, and while that milestone was beautiful, it was also isolating. By day she was a civil engineer, by night a brand-new mom, wide awake at 3 a.m. with no one in her circle in the same stage of life. Out of that loneliness, she began posting online, almost like a daily journal, as a way to process what she was going through and to see if maybe, just maybe, another mom out there could relate.

What she found was powerful: connection. Other moms were awake too, carrying the same exhaustion, the same questions, and the same tidal waves of emotion. In that shared space, she realized the most comforting thing wasn’t advice or perfectly packaged stories, it was simply knowing someone else was out there too.

But most of the options for moms didn’t feel right. Social media made it seem like you had to be perfect, clever, or put-together. Other mom apps felt more like dating platforms than safe spaces. Annalee wanted something different: a place where moms could come as they are, tired, messy, overwhelmed, joyful, all of it, and still find real connection.

That’s why she created Along the Waves. It’s not about performance or perfection, it’s an emotional network for motherhood, built to remind you that even on the hardest days, you’re not the only one riding these waves. And because connection shouldn’t just live on a screen, Along the Waves also creates wearable reminders, pieces designed to feel like a soft hug from a friend. Whether it’s a moment of “I get you” in the app or a sweatshirt you throw on in the morning, both are little anchors you can carry with you, reminding you that you don’t have to ride the waves alone.
